Damara Mopane lodge was built in 2010 and is 20km east of Khorixas. Accommodation consists of 60 luxurious rooms, which are all surrounded by a vegetable and herb garden that the lodge's restaurant uses. There are 55 double-room chalets that are equipped with air conditioning.
The lodge is a perfect destinatination for those wishing to see proudly Namibian attractions such as Damarland, Twyfelfontein, the Petrified Forest and the Vingerklip. It is also an ideal stop-over location between the idyllic coastal town of Swakopmund and the Etosha National Park and even the remote area of Kaokoland.
The main building at the lodge was designed to be remeniscent of an African village and is built in a wattle and daub style under the shade of the abundant mopane trees. The decor at Damara Mopane lodge is very unique, as the walls of the building and chalets are adorned with copies of the rock engravings that can be seen at Twyfelfontein, and there are also creative scarecrows littered in the vegetable plots that surround the bungalows.
There is a swimming pool at the lodge which is situated alongside the large mopane trees and is the ideal place for guests to cool off and relax after a hot day of sightseeing adventures.
